NEWS - 22ND APRIL 2024

Major sports medicine event brings together thousands of practitioners and scientists to discuss latest developments in the field

Since 1992, the annual Isokinetic Conference has brought together thousands of sports medicine physicians, orthopaedic surgeons, physiatrists, physiotherapists, chiropractors, sports scientists, fitness coaches, athletes and students from around the world to discuss the latest developments in football and sports medicine. This year’s event runs from 25th-27th May at the Civitas Metropolitano Stadium, home of Atletico Madrid, involving over 2,500 attendees from 80 countries around the world.

Across 70 congressional sessions, 12 workshops and 150 hours of discussions and debates, this year’s conference will explore the theme of ‘bridging science and practice’, with topics including injury prevention, diagnosis and imaging, surgery and rehabilitation, regenerative medicine and the application of biomechanics and neuroscience. The conference will also include the Latin Football Sessions, a full programme dedicated to how football clubs from Latin countries in Europe and South America translate this theoretical framework into practical application within the complex environment of professional football.

Andrea Tartaglia, managing director of Isokinetic London, said: “The Isokinetic Conference is a unique global event bringing together the greatest minds in football medicine. At the conference we understand the latest data and scientific research hand in hand with practical experience of dealing with patients and guiding healing and return to sport. This year we will focus on the relationship between science and day-to-day practice. Our London-based doctors and rehabilitation specialists will travel to Madrid to share their insight and understanding and learn from the best in world to take that practice into treatment back home in London.”
