Specialist interest in Dental Sleep Medicine & Craniofacial Pain   

 Karina graduated from Kings College London and subsequently spent 5 years in Australia focusing her special interests in neuromuscular and advanced cosmetic dentistry and completed two years of intensive study with international lecturer and orthodontist Dr Derek Mahony. Having developed an interest in dental sleep medicine and its associated disorders, Dr Patel undertook further post-graduate training in California with T & S International Group founder Dr Steven Olmos, to learn the latest evidence-based techniques for Sleep and TMJ Disorders.

In 2013, Karina was invited to bring the methods of T&S International and their unique, evidence-based treatment model to the UK. In 2014, she formed the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of London (UK) based on this new set of standardized, evidence-based protocols in the diagnosis and treatment of TMD, Sleep disordered breathing and their co-morbidities including chronic pain. In 2015, the TMJ & Sleep Therapy Centre of London was incorporated into The London Sleep Centre.

As the lead clinician of the TMJ and Sleep Therapy Centre of London, Karina takes the lead for the treatment of patients suffering with airway problems, sleep apnoea, craniofacial pain and their postural compensatory effects.

Karina is the first UK graduate to date who has taken both the American Board of dental sleep medicine and craniofacial pain examinations.
